Many people have a deep love for pungent and spicy foods. Unfortunately, pungent foods like hot sauce etc deeply aggravate pitta *, the bio energy which is related to the fire element which in turn could aggravate acid reflux ,GERD and even Heartburn. Spicy foods can irritate an already inflamed Esophagus which may worsen the symptoms. Its best to consider consuming foods with mild spices for better digestive health. Mild spices include turmeric, cumin,fennel etc in moderate amounts.
