Okra (Lady's finger) has a moistening unctous quality making it a great vegetable for balancing the dryness of the Vata dosha. It's rich fiber and mucilaginous content binds to toxins, lubricates the large intestines, and aids with easy bowel movements thus being very helpful for aiding a Vata type of dry constipation. Cook with onions and spices such as ginger and cumin. NOTE : Okra is not recommended for people with a low digestive power and sluggish bowel movements.
