Eat Sweet Potatoes During the Fall Season | Yoga of Eating


Sweet potatoes are an excellent food for the Fall / Autumn season. They tend to balance all doshas in the system. Unlike potatoes and many starchy vegetables, they tend to stabilize sugar levels. Sweet potatoes are regarded as one of the most nutrient dense vegetables. For people who have issues with dryness,Yams are a much better alternative.


Sweet potatoes, due to the high fiber content are very good for issues with constipation as they ease elimination especially when eaten after boiling them. Because they are nutrient dense, they tend to keep people satiated for a long time and can be eaten for all meals.


𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 : Though considered a very benign food ingredient in most parts of the world, some Ayurvedic Doctors in India are noticing that some patients , especially with rheumatoid arthritis tend to have an aggravation of the ailment after having sweet potatoes.


This could be because of the "terroir" ie the water, pollution, pesticides, soil conditions, hybrid seeds and many other conditions in which they could have been grown.
