Ayurveda believes that Digestion gets kindled with the rising of the sun and is strongest when the Sun is strongest ie around noon time. Therefore, its suggested to have the biggest and most difficult to digest foods ie brocccoli, beans, whole wheat bread etc for lunch as it's the time of day when you have the most, the highest amount of hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes functioning in the system.
