Ayurveda* gives a lot of importance to the prevention of disease and recommends a daily and seasonal regime for the preservation of optimal health.
One of the Ayurvedic recommendations is a daily oil massage with an emphasis on the importance of massaging the feet. One of the three bio energies of the human body is Vata**, a combination of the elements of Air and Ether. Vata also governs the nervous system. Applying warm oil on them daily is supposed to have a deep positive impact in pacifying Vata.
This ritualistic habit of massaging the feet with warm oil can have the following benefits :
Helps to pacify Vata Dosha.( An aggravated Vata Dosha is one of the root causes of major illnesses)
Helps to keep the mind calm
Helps in relieving Anxiety
Promotes deep sound restful sleep
Helpful in issues of Sciatica
Helpful to rejuvenate and relax the central nervous system.
Helpful when one has rough, dry, and cracked feet
Note: One could use warm Sesame oil or Olive oil to massage the feet especially during the cold seasons. Coconut oil can be used during the warm summers.
*Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of traditional natural healing in the world. Also known as the sister of Yoga, it stresses deeply on nutrition and lifestyle for optimal health.
Ayurveda believes that there are three bio-energies ie Vata ( Air and Ether Elements), Pitta ( Fire and Water ), and Kapha ( Earth and Water) within the body, and their balance or imbalance determines the state of good or ill health.

I consult people with diet and lifestyle changes which could deeply help with their overall wellbeing. I help them transit to an Organic Whole Plant Based Diet 🌱 ( #wpbd ) that is suitable to their unique constitution, by the seasons and the climatic conditions where they live.
