Tips for better Digestion | Yoga of Eating

Ayurveda* believes that it's not only what you eat but what you can digest. Ayurveda also believes that the root cause of most diseases is due to imbalances in the digestive system.

The mentioned healthy habits are suggestions for a healthy lifestyle and diet that could help go a long way to lead us towards a state of optimal health.

  • Eat a moderate breakfast, a hearty lunch, and a light dinner.

  • Keep your food combinations simple.

  • Have warm drinks and warm foods.

  • Simple soups can be a great aid to digestion.

  • Chew every morsel between forty and fifty times.

  • Some warm water fifteen to twenty minutes before a meal can help with better digestion.

  • Fill the stomach 1/3 full with food, 1/3 with water, and keep the remaining 1/3 empty.

  • Eat according to a robust schedule ie the same time everyday.

  • Relax a bit before and after meals eating.

*Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of traditional natural healing in the world. Also known as the sister of Yoga, it stresses deeply on nutrition and lifestyle for optimal health.

Ayurveda believes that there are three bio energies ie Vata ( Air and Ether Elements), Pitta ( Fire and Water ) and Kapha ( Earth and Water) within the body and their balance or imbalance determines the state of good or ill health .
