In Ayurveda, looking at the tongue is one of several methods for assessing the health of an individual. Even the thickness and the color of the coatings reveals about the toxins in the system and so much about the status of the inner system? The tongue is a mirror of the status of many organs throughout the body including the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, spleen, stomach, small intestine, colon and more. Ayurveda suggests scraping one's tongue everyday as part of the daily regime. Tongue scraping has the following benefits - Using a tongue cleaner can • Clears toxins and bacteria from the tongue. • Removes the unwanted coating from the tongue. • Promotes fresh breath. • Improves the sense of taste. • Aids daily awareness of one’s current state of health as reflected via the tongue. • Regular tongue scraping promotes oral health, hygiene and overall wellbeing. Note : Tongue scraping should be done gently and firmly for about 10 times using a copper or steel tongue scraper.
